Clashes in Rome for ProPal Protest


5th October 2024, Rome (Italy).

The ProPalestine protest, previously banned and then partially re-authorised, erupted in clashes between police and some demonstrators. The protest gathered about 7000 people, many other tried to reach the city from all over the country, but police forces were deployed on highways and trains with the specific order to stop people from reaching Rome. A few activits recevied a temporary ban from the city. The athmosphere was announced to be heavy since the beginning as police kept batoons in hand and shields up in front of the demonstration all time. During the clashes police used watercannons, pepperspray, tear gas, and ultimately charged the civilians. The gathering that began a peacefull rally in the streets around the square, without the supervision of the police. People dispersed themselves peacefully at the local train station.
